AQUA Lead Pipe Replacement Project
Attention: Upper Darby Residents
As required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PAPUC), Aqua PA is responsible for the identification and replacement of all lead and galvanized service lines within their distribution system.
Aqua has identified Upper Darby Township as an area with a high number of service lines with an unknown pipe material.
Aqua has partnered with ERM on a project to survey the service line material of roughly 6,000 customers within Upper Darby.
This survey involves representatives calling, mailing letters to, and potentially entering the homes of property owners to identify the material of their water service line near their water meter.
No homes will be entered without prior permission from the home owner.
If a lead or galvanized service line is identified, it will be replaced by Aqua verified plumbers at no direct cost to the homeowner ($6K to $8K).
