Deputy Fire Chief Mark Morrissey
Planning
Oversees apparatus and fleet maintenance, commercial property inspections, and the Knox Box Program.
Apparatus and Fleet Maintenance
In January 2022, the fire department placed orders for three new fire apparatus. The committees that worked on the designs continue to monitor the construction and progress of the new apparatus ordered. The selected manufacturers anticipate delivery of the new apparatus through 2023.
Apart from the 2020 Aerial, the age of the fleet continues to make keeping up with maintenance a challenge. Significant issues have been identified and scheduled for repair. Pump testing was completed. All aspects of preventative maintenance and servicing of apparatus were completed, including state inspections. The department recently purchased 1,200 feet of the four-inch hose line, which will serve as our standardized water supply line. The new hose is expected to arrive in August 2023.
Commercial Building Inspection Program
The Fire Inspection program continues to develop and finalize its process with its partners in the Department of License & Inspection. Inspections are performed throughout the township, including apartment buildings and commercial properties. During 2022, the fire department conducted 446 building inspections, which resulted in $41,755 in revenue.
Knox Box Program
The Knox Box installation program continues to gain momentum. There has been an increased interest in the Knox Box program and requests for more installations. The Department of License & Inspection continues to mail Knox Box ordering information forms in its fire inspection application letters.
