The Mayor is responsible for executing the ordinances and the day to day administration of the Township departments.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for administering the operation of the Township Departments. The CAO is a full time position responsible for administering the operation of the Township Departments. The Chief Administrative Officer serves as the deputy to the Mayor and shall supervise and direct such departments, agencies, and activities as delegated by the Mayor. Our commitment is to provide our residents, businesses, and visitors with a great place to live, work, dine, shop, and visit. The CAO is the official Right-to-Know officer and is responsible for responding to public requests for information as stipulated by the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law.
Administrative Services is responsible for the Township's telecommunication & computer systems, housekeeping and maintenance for Municipal Buildings, and the Residents' Request Line.
The Finance Department is responsible for the administration of activities pertaining to Township funds, preparation of the annual Budget, variance reports and other financial information and collects all taxes levied by the Township.
The Fire Department has the responsibility of protecting the population using 5 fire stations and a combination force with 44 career fire fighters. The Department operates a Fire Prevention Unit and Smoke Detector Program.
The Department of Licenses & Inspections is responsible for the administration and enforcement of zoning, subdivision, construction, property maintenance, building and related structural and land use codes, as well as issuing permits and enforcing licensing requirements. Divisions include Code Enforcement, Permit Processing, Animal Control, and Planning & Zoning.
The Parking Enforcement Department is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of all parking meters throughout Upper Darby Township and for the collection of parking fees and enforcement of all laws and ordinances pertaining to illegally parked vehicles. Ultimately our goal is to provide safe, convenient and affordable parking for the Township community; to make our users contact with parking as pleasant as possible; and to operate as efficiently and fiscally responsibly.
Upper Darby Recreation provides welcoming and safe opportunities to play, learn, and build community while promoting responsible stewardship of the land. We promote healthy people, a healthy environment, and a strong community.
The Upper Darby Police Department provides services to its residential, business and industrial community using traditional and the most modern policing practices. The mission of the Upper Darby Township Police Department is to partner with community members to increase the quality of life for all residents in the Township. The Department of Public Works is primarily responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of all the physical structures and facilities which are owned and maintained by the Township.
